When red pen meets clothes.........

While I was in school and juggling my time between being a wife, working, and going to school, there were many times when the house was a disaster. Being a clean freak that I am, I would just dream of the day when I could focus my time and attention on my family and making our home a little heaven on earth. Now that I am graduated and I have a wonderful husband who provides for me, I have really enjoyed staying home and being a little homemaker . There is one mundane task however that I think I will never grow to love. It is that weekly task that if it doesn't get done, you will be in a real pickle after taking a shower and having no clean undies to wear.....Yes I mean laundry. So I really had to humble myself to tell this story, but after many tears I can now laugh at it.

Yesterday was laundry day. Now for any normal person laundry may seem like a very simple task, but I have had quit the track record. About six months ago, I forgot to check my pockets, and I washed my cell phone. After that experience, I have made a conscience effort to check all the clothes before I wash them (my wonderful husband loves to leave all sorts of treasures in his pockets too, so I have to be really careful before I just throw clothes in the washer.) Well yesterday after checking all the pants pockets I preceded to do the laundry. (I guess I was in a hurry though, I just wanted to get all the clothes cleaned, put away and over with.) To my dismay, when I opened the dryer to empty the last load of our clothes, I saw red all over the dryer door. Then I realized that the red was also in big blotches all over our clothes. (There was a red pen left in one of Jason's shirts.) I was so angry.........and honestly who carries around a red pen in their pocket, and of all colors, why red. Ahgg...! Between the fact that I had just ruined Jason's favorite shirt, my favorite skirt and about ten other articles of clothing, plus all my pregnancy hormones...lets just say I had a really good cry.
When Jason got home he immediately knew something was wrong. Being the wonderful husband that he is,he simply just smiled and told me that I deserve new clothes anyways. So now that I can laugh about it, I guess the moral of the story is to stop rushing and just enjoy doing everyday tasks such as laundry!

Yeah right! Enjoy doing laundry?! What are you smokin' Lorisa? I'm pretty sure I'm never going to get to that point, but you right that it's not worth getting worked up about stuff like that. Don't get me wrong, I pretty sure I would have shed some tears over ruined laundry too, but it's just "stuff" after all. "Stuff" doesn't really matter in the long run. Besides, you are due for some new clothes after carrying that little guy around for so long. :)

I was so freaking excited to actually have a washer and dryer in our apartment. I hated the fact that in Rexburg, I had to haul all of our clothes out of the apartment to get washed. All I can say is thank goodness for technology. I don't think that I would do very well washing clothes in a tub all day.
